CPD in Psychometric Testing for Guidance Counsellors working in FET settings: August, 2016 Application
NCGE plans to deliver CPD to qualified guidance counsellors working in FET settings who are employed by an ETB i.e. AEGS/PLC/Youthreach/Prison Service, subject to demand for the CPD programme. It is envisaged that one workshop will be delivered in Limerick on the 28th September (subject to demand). If you are specifically interested in Limerick as a location please indicate this in the location field of the application form.
The CPD programme in Psychometric Testing will be delivered using a blended learning methodology - combination of e-learning (approx. 3 hours of effort) with attendance at a face-to-face workshop (one full day).
The aim of the programme is to provide guidance counsellors currently working in FET settings with the opportunity to reflect on psychometric testing practice and to develop practice further. The CPD will address the following areas:
- Good practice in test administration
- Data protection and legal considerations in testing
- Developing an organisation policy on testing
- Test scoring and interpretation
- Providing meaningful feedback on test results
Please note that while individual tests/instruments may be discussed at the workshop the purpose of the CPD is not to provide training in the administration of specific psychometric tests.
Guidance counsellors who successfully complete the CPD (i.e. complete the online work and attend the workshop in full) will receive an NCGE Certificate of Completion. The CPD programme is recognised by the IGC for CPD purposes.
To apply for the CPD programme please complete the Application Form below by clicking on the button 'Application Form' (please note you do not need to sign into the VLE).
The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 31st August, 2016 (5pm sharp). Note: unfortunately NCGE is unable to cover the substitution/travel costs of participating guidance counsellors at present.
